After an early wake up call from Mr Temple once again we boarded our trusty coach to Phantasialand. As we approached the theme park the exitement in the coach was building which came a climax when Mr Temple decided to dance in anticipation of watching a very scared Mr Gardner on Black Mamba. We were greeted with one of the largest theme parks in Germany, Mr Temple was by now bursting with excitment! We proceeded in groups of three or more to the well anticipated rides. There was an overwhelming choice including The Enchanted Castle, Black Mamba and Colerado Adventure.
The Enchanted castle was a German version of the well known ride Tower of Terror, Black Mamba was a thrilling rollercoaster where your feet were left dangling in the air and Colerado Adventure was a fast paced train which was similar to The Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland Paris. Another good ride was the Chinese illusion where up wasn't up and down wasn't down. We practised our German yet again in the Restaurants while ordering our lunch.
After an enjoyable day at the theme park we returned to prepare for our glamorous awards evening in which the best facy dress costumes went to Jak Jobson, James Doyle, Zoe Lancaster and Hannah Munslow. Other prizes included the quiz winners and the Koblenz trail winners as well as the shortest shorts award.
Early start tomorrow for the journey home. See you all soon!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday 26 October
The supposedly late start today was well deserved before we had breakfast and set out for our last language lesson of the trip. We talked about hobbies and interests before saying goodbye to our two German teachers: Ricarda and Ingrid with a special present from our visit to the chocolate museum.
Then we travelled by the now working coach to Boppard for a 20 minute shop and lunch break. After that we boarded the five star luxury Rhine cruise to St.Goar when we learned how to line dance from two American OAPs.
After the cruise we boarded the castle express to the Rheinfels castle where we had a guided tour of the tunnels (which terrified Mr Gardner), dungeons and cellars. We returned to the hotel for dinner with yet more schnitzel and fish fingers! Eager for the disco we all rushed off to our rooms to get into our fancy dress costumes which included smurfs, 2 mad hatters, a leprichaun and a tuxedo morphsuits. After a lot of dancing and fun we were ready for Phantasieland tomorrow.
Answer to yesterdays quiz question: hyperbolic peraboloid (and no points for oval)

Tuesday 25 October
Even earlier start this morning at 6:15!!! And after breakfast we made our way to Koblenz for our second language lesson. After being split into groups we had to describe different sights in Koblenz and Cologne. After the language lesson we were informed that the bus had broken down and we would have to get the train into Cologne.
The first stop in Cologne was... good old McDonalds shortly followed by the lindt chocolate museum. At the museum we saw how chocolate was made and unfortunately we had to sample the products. Mr Temple then lead the way to what he thought was the city centre but turned out to be a dead end!
In the shopping area we were surprised at how many shops we similar to England for example, about 50 lidls and aldis! We practised our German speaking skills by ordering yet more food including plenty curry wurst!
Tonight we all took part in a mind boggling quiz to stretch our brains answering questions like what shape is a pringle? (answer to follow tomorrow).
The teachers tell us we have a late start tomorrow however we dont think that 7 AM is a lie in. Looking forward to the Rhine cruise tomorrow!

Monday 24 October
Early start this morning, and after eating a continental breakfast and making our packed lunches, we headed to Koblenz for our language lessons. Lots of German spoken; Mr Gardner and NickT entertained us with a role play of a restaurant scene, and Mr Temple stunned year 11 with his secure grasp of the perfect tense.
Lunch at the Deutsches Eck where the Mosel and Rhein meet, then into the old town for a town trail, solving various clues and lots of ice cream eating, while the teachers took advantage of the Koblenz cafe culture. Back to the hotel for Schnitzel, then swimming in the leisure pool. A good time was had by all and we returned exhausted, again, to the hotel. Very early start tomorrow for our trip to Cologne.
